I am the Executive Director of SEED. We collect Zakat and spend it in India. We don’t have a written policy but we follow the guidelines of our Shareeah. About 40 percent of our donations are Zakat. About 95 percent of the aid recipients are Zakat eligible. They are all poor and needy, checked and verified. I will try to answer your questions if you have any. All information is available in our website/Seedusa.net. I want you to review and tell us where we are lacking anything. JAK.

Do you know if SEED has a zakat policy? They accept zakat and have a checkbox for it, but what do they do with it? Not clear.

Thank you. This is a free newsletter for the community and I have not yet started paid subscriptions, which the substack platform encourages. They don’t have a “tip jar” here. Please encourage everyone who may be interested to subscribe to this newsletter, and check out islamicinheriance.com if they are interested in Estate Planning, Charitable planning and asset protection planning (my day job).

I really want to appreciate your effort in educating us and others about how these charities are working.

The was reality an army of Relief charities is competing instead of completing each other, this by itself is a huge flag to notice.

Personally, I am having an issue with Islamic Relief Canada, I use to be pro-Islamic relief and a big donor, but sadly after Beirut's explosive in 2020, I discovered so many holes in the way they were distributing our donations, by Islamic Relief Lebanon.

My thought was when I contact Islamic Relief Canada they will thank me because absolutely there are missing funds, under embezzlement, corruption or for some reason.

I reached out to the local Rep Kahawar Khan, a local rep that used to work for IDRF before she start working with Islamic Relief, and the new CEO shut down the Calgary office and let her, no disclosed info.

As well I contacted the special program director Abed Monem Al Daymi, story short they have failed to name one organization they have dealt with in Lebanon.

They failed to answer any of the questions or allow me to in the filed trip at my own cost to check their existing projects.

My story is too long, and inshallah we will be able to provoke them so they can be more transparent.

I really admire your work, you have strategic and more effective procedures for what you are doing, I wish you can extend your arm's reach to Canada.

Jazakoum Allah Khayer
