I was invited to a podcast called “ The Prophetic MENtality” to discuss zakat. We discuss:

• Zakat is not the same as charity. We need to get out of that mindset completely.

• Fisabilillah Expansion Zakat: What about the idea Zakat can be used for anything good?

• Do your municipal taxes count as Zakat or not? There is a solid argument that it does if you accept the Fisabillillah expansion theory.

• We discuss the Council on American Islamic Relations CAIR.

• The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) and how people are wasting their Zakat with them.

• Is it a bit harsh to say Launchgood is a parasite in the Muslim community?

• How Muslim charities often dislike each other intensely and use the community’s zakat funds to shout over or even attack other Muslim charities.

• Islamic Relief is expensive.

• My thoughts on UNHCR’s zakat fund.

• How wonderful the service of hand-to-hand zakat is. That is the model we should adopt more widely in the Muslim community.
